More than Two Million Meals Secured

Through Million Meals for MLK

This January, Feeding Louisiana and Volunteer Louisiana rallied communities across the state through the Million Meals for MLK campaign—and together we secured more than two million meals for our neighbors. The campaign was designed to help Louisiana’s five regional food banks restock after the busy holiday season and meet the ongoing need for nutritious food statewide.

We are especially grateful to our lead partners—Louisiana Blue and Healthy Blue (Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana), Entergy, and Cajun Country Rice—for stepping up with the kind of leadership that turns a statewide goal into real food on shelves.

Throughout the month, Louisianans joined the effort in three simple ways: Serve. Share. Support. Volunteers gave their time at food banks. Families, businesses, and civic groups participated in virtual food drives. Donors contributed dollars that were converted into meals and directed to the regional food bank of their choice—or made as a statewide gift.

This is what it looks like when Louisiana honors Dr. King’s legacy with action. Thank you to every sponsor, volunteer, and donor who helped make this possible—and to the food bank teams across the state who put these resources to work for our communities.
