Louisianans Struggling to survive
Covid-19 southern voices report
From August 28th to September 7th, 2020, the SouthStrong campaign surveyed SNAP recipients in 12 Southern states about their experiences throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. More than 400 surveys were collected from Louisianans about the challenges they have faced, the need for additional assistance, and their call to action additional action from legislators. The survey found that food insecurity and job loss have been the top challenges faced due to the pandemic, the initial government aid made a huge difference but has since largely worn off, and additional help with housing, food, and utilities are needed immediately.
