“During my outreach experience, I had the pleasure of assisting the most humble person. This individual expressed he has always been an industrious person with some of the finest things he always dreamt to have. One Friday night, this individual and his fiancé decided to go out for date. On their way to the restaurant, they were engaged in a head on collision by a drunk driver. The fiancé was pronounced dead at the scene. The individual (applicant) suffers from injuries that prohibits him from walking and doing daily tasks. I met with the applicant at the Library in Jena. He shared his testimony and stated his urgent need for health care coverage. I immediately assisted the applicant and three days later, he was approved for Medicaid. The applicant stated, 'I can go to the doctor when I’m not feeling well, instead of staying home to avoid another medical bill'.”
